PRIVACY AT RAASTAY

Your trail data should remain yours.

Effective August 2, 2026. This policy explains what Raastay processes, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.

Information Raastay handles

  • Account and profile: email address, authentication provider, display name, username, profile type, biography, city, and profile images you choose to provide.
  • Location and journeys: precise GPS coordinates, altitude, accuracy, speed, bearing, timestamps, route points, notes, and journey statistics while you intentionally record or follow a route.
  • Photos and contributions: trail photos, captions, destination suggestions, routes, corrections, reviews, and safety information you choose to submit.
  • Device-local information: downloaded routes, offline map packs, drafts, cached public content, and recording recovery data stored on your device.
  • Technical information: limited diagnostics needed to identify failed sign-ins, downloads, map rendering problems, and recording interruptions. Raastay does not use advertising SDKs.

How information is used

Raastay uses this information to authenticate accounts, display profiles, record and restore journeys, provide offline navigation, review community contributions, prevent abuse, and maintain app reliability. Precise journey data is saved locally first. It is sent to Raastay only when a signed-in user submits or synchronizes a contribution.

Location and screen-off recording

Raastay requests precise foreground location to place you on the map and record a journey. When you start recording or following, Android keeps a visible foreground-service notification active so tracking can continue while the screen is locked or another app is open. Raastay does not request Android's “Allow all the time” background-location permission.

Service providers and sharing

Raastay uses Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage; Google for optional Google sign-in; and configured map providers for online map rendering. These services may process network and device information needed to deliver their services. Raastay does not sell personal information or precise location data.

Approved public contributions can display your profile attribution, route geometry, trail points, photos, and notes. Drafts remain private unless you submit them.

Offline storage, retention, and security

Downloaded maps, routes, and unfinished journeys can remain on your phone after sign-out so they remain useful offline. You can remove downloads in the app or erase them by clearing Raastay's app data. Cloud information is retained while your account is active and as needed for security, dispute resolution, legal obligations, and backup recovery.
